What is a WiFi Survey?

A WiFi survey is a vital part of planning and designing a fast, reliable and secure wireless network that supports your business.

If your network isn’t meeting the needs of your workplace, a number of factors could be the cause. In order to design a new network that is capable of meeting these needs, it’s vital to have a strong understanding of where and why your wireless is failing.

This is where a WiFi survey can help. A professional survey will identify existing and potential issues using the latest technology, giving you the understanding you need in a detailed report.

What are the Benefits of a WiFi Survey?

A WiFi survey from certified engineers will give you the strong foundations you need to plan a high-performance network that is tailored to your business needs

Whether you’re diagnosing issues with an existing network or designing a new one, a WiFi survey allows us to recommend a solution that considers the size and site of your business, interference, capacity, scalability, mobility, and network security.

What to Expect from a WiFi Site Survey

A survey doesn’t start when we arrive at your site. In order to give you an in-depth understanding of your wireless network’s performance, our Ekahau certified engineers work with you from the first phone call.

Our WiFi surveys begin with your business requirements and how effectively they are being met by your current network. We examine floorplans prior to visiting your site and map out a survey walk that will pinpoint where and why you are not receiving the coverage you need.

During our site visit, our engineer will carry out portable spectrum analysis using Ekahau Survey to map wireless performance to your floorplan with precision. Using the latest WiFi tools ensures that our survey data is the most accurate on the market. It supports our engineers in designing wireless networks that can guarantee coverage.

On Site Survey

Best for: planning a new network

The most accurate on-site survey, known as an APOAS or physical site survey. Using Ekahau Sidekick, our engineers will walk the entirety of your site carrying out a range of tests to
determine coverage, signal strength, interference and extenuating factors. We analyse the data and heatmaps to produce a detailed report, recommending a network design that will offer optimal performance to fit your budget.

Fault Finding Survey

Best for: network troubleshooting

An on-site survey to pinpoint issues with your existing network. An engineer will analyse the integrity of your wireless, diagnose the source of the problem and recommend a solution.
These surveys are recommended for network maintenance to proactively avoid disruption to your business.

Predictive Survey

Best for: greenfield projects

A remote survey done off-site. These WiFi surveys offer a cost-effective solution to estimating your site’s needs. Using your floorplans we virtually assess hardware requirements and offer detailed recommendations on the type, quantity and location of access points.

Since these surveys are virtual, they cannot account for external or unanticipated interference.

Post-Installation

Best for: post-install review

Also called a ‘validation survey’, we recommend this survey once your network is operational to assure optimal performance. Customer care is at the core of our success, so if we discover any interference our engineers will adjust your hardware and configuration accordingly.
